Look up a Word As you type in a few letters, PocketLingo will automatically suggest the nearest words in the dictionary. You can simply tap the word to get the definition much faster than looking it up in a paper dictionary. PocketLingo provides you with an easy-to-use interface for looking up a word using the PocketPC IME.
Add a Word To Your Vocabulary List You look up a word and you don't want to forget it. PocketLingo helps you keep track of the words that you want to learn automatically. Simply check the MyWord box. Up to 1000 words will be stored for you to review later. Adding a word to your list takes less than one second in PocketLingo.
Review Your Vocabulary List An effective way of building a powerful vocabulary is to review a list of words that you have written down. PocketLingo makes this review process much more effective. You can remove the words that you have mastered by checking the box next to each one and pressing the "Remove" button. You can also sort the words alphabetically or by how long they have been on the list. MyWord List will also show you how long each word has remained on the list with a graphic bar. Of course, you can set your own pace by tapping the Prefs button and adjusting your goal.
Study Each Word Another effective way of memorizing words is to study them one by one using study cards. PocketLingo creates study cards automatically. Simply tap "Study" and you will see all the words from MyWord List in card format one at a time. You can go through these cards and memorize each word. If you don't know the meaning, simply tap the "Show" button. You can also "shuffle" the card deck and PocketLingo will randomize the order in which cards are viewed.
Retrieve Recently Viewed Words Sometimes you look up a word in the dictionary, but you don't have time to write it down. A few days (or even a few minutes) later, you forget the meaning and need to look up the word again. Forgot the definition of a word you have looked up recently? Simply use the pull-down menu next to the word entry box. PocketLingo remembers up to 20 words that you have looked up in the past. You can simply choose the one that you need from the list. If you want to study, remember to add the word to MyWord List. |
